WHETHER YOU WANT TO BE A WARRIOR OR FLY SKYLINE,

LEARN MORE ABOUT HOW TO JOIN YOUR NEW TEAM.

TEAM FORMATION PROCESS

Tryouts typically take place in early September and late January of each year. All players should make every effort to attend a tryout session. If you missed tryouts and want to play, email us at warriorsquadball@gmail.com and skylinequadball@gmail.com.

With every tryout there comes potential for change and anxiety for athletes. We encourage athletes to remember that each year is a chance to grow, to develop as a player, to develop as a person and to develop a passion for quadball.

TRYOUT EXPECTATIONS

All interested athletes are required to fill out The Warriors and Skyline QC Interest Form. At a tryout, players will have the opportunity to participate in mixed drills, positional drills and full scrimmages. If you’ve never played quadball before, we have a separate set of expectations for you that can be found here.

Here are the primary items you will be evaluated on at a Warriors and Skyline tryout:

  • Coachability and Teamwork: Athletes need to have a respectful attitude towards their teammates and coaches at all times. Coachability is the process of being able to take direction and constructive criticism and attempt to try what has been directed.

  • Communication: Communication between and with teammates on the pitch is one of the most important parts of the game. You should be able to communicate to your teammates where you are on the pitch at all times.

  • Technical Abilities: As an experienced quadball athlete, we will be evaluating how you throw, catch and move on the field.

  • Tactical Abilities: The coaching staff will be evaluating your responses to plays, your decision-making ability, how quickly you can adapt and how quickly you pick up on various strategies playing out in-game.

  • Overall Fitness: Quadball is a physically demanding sport. The coaching staff will be evaluating your ability to keep up with other athletes in-game.

  • Growth Potential: We’re looking for athletes that can grow not just as an individual in the sport but as a part of the team.

If you have any questions about joining The Warriors or Skyline, feel free to contact us at warriorsquadball@gmail.com and skylinequadball@gmail.com.

TEAM PLACEMENT NOTIFICATION AND COMMITMENT

After tryouts, rosters are typically finalized within a week. Players will be notified via email with next steps to either accept or decline their roster spot. The notice will be sent to the main email entered in a player’s tryout registration. In order to accept a roster spot, the roster confirmation form must be filled out.

After committing to the team, players must pay their team dues and uniform fees in the allocated time window. In the event a player cannot meet the allocated timelines, they can set up a payment plan with team management. If they cannot afford the fees, team management can work with the player to find a way to accommodate. Funds will not be the make or break for an athlete to play for The Warriors or Skyline.

In order to maximize player development, we will do our best to place players on the team where they are surrounded by others of similar ability, commitment and aspirations. That being said, we expect players to be committed to their team. Commitment is shown in the form of attendance for both practices and games and off-the-field workouts.

Players looking for feedback on where they can improve can ask The Warriors and Skyline leadership throughout the season.
